Purchase your own choice of fashionable clothing for women that comes from the Everlane store with your choice of wearable outfits. Arrange this store’s clothing at a high discount rate and consider it a worthwhile sale that can make a difference to your budgeting. Over the last decade(!), I have learned a lot about my personal style and have created a collection of clothes that I truly love to wear.
Much of that journey has been shared here on the blog if you’ve been a follower for a while. This year I’ve taken a step back from the work of “influencing” (and receiving lots of gifts for my closet), and that’s led me to greater clarity about the things I actually choose to wear on a daily basis. If you’re looking to streamline your closet and make getting dressed a breeze, I’d love to share a few tips I’ve learned along the way.
Make It Personal
I am by no means telling you that your style should resemble mine. Rather, I think making it personal is the best way forward. What feels really good to you? Let go of what doesn’t feel right. What fabrics/colors/equipment make you feel more like yourself? Keep using and buying those items. What is your station in life? Make sure your wardrobe matches the type of activities and lifestyle you currently lead. This is the key!
My lifestyle is currently very casual. I feel best in neutral colors and natural fibers (cotton, wool, cashmere) and try to keep a fairly tight wardrobe. I am interested in comfort and simplicity when making outfits. Nothing too fussy.
Ignore (most) Trends
I choose to ignore most trends because most of them don’t feel like me and it’s exhausting to keep up. I prefer to make more timeless purchases that I could see myself still wearing in a decade. When you’re shopping, it’s also helpful to check out the “best sellers” and “top-rated” sections to see the staple designs that make a comeback year after year. These are a better investment of your money. Every once in a while there’s a trend that I like and try (like the 2020 loungewear outfits, I love it!), and there are certain seasonal trends that come back like clockwork that I think can be a nice addition to your outfit. your wardrobe (flowers in spring, and flannel in autumn, etc…).
Wipe Off Excess
I view tidying up as a learned skill rather than a one-time process. Take off the pieces that you know you don’t like to wear. Sell or donate them and breathe a sigh of relief because you no longer have to look at them in your closet. Keep what you love to wear and feel great!
I promise your closet will start to feel like a much friendlier and more fun place without the visual clutter. And, if you’re not sure, try things on and take pictures of your outfits. This is one of the advantages of being a blogger: a photo will more easily tell you if you really like how something looks.
Ok, using those 3 skills to create a capsule wardrobe, I wanted to start by sharing the basic bottoms (jeans, pants, and shorts) that I keep in my closet. Curating your entire wardrobe often feels overwhelming, so I like to go section by section. Apply your personal style only to the section you are working on.
Note: When I say “capsule closet” I don’t mean the 33 items you rotate seasonally. I tried that at one point, but I prefer to have a simple wardrobe that I can wear year-round and I do 2 seasonal shifts putting away summer/winter clothes to accommodate the Midwestern climate. Many of my pieces are worn year-round, but of course, I put away the shorts, bathing suits, sweaters, and jackets when they’re not appropriate for the season. For sizing, I’m normally a small/27/4 and will note below if my size is larger or smaller. I hope that helps!
So there you have the 11 specific pieces that I wear throughout the year. I hope this post helps you create your own collection! If you get overwhelmed easily, remember that it can help to start with a section of your closet, like the bottom, and make sure you have what you need to get you through the seasons.
For me, summer is always the most challenging, so this year I made sure to clear out some shorts that felt too tight on hot and humid days and find better options that felt comfortable and easy to wear. It made a big difference! Purchase online the desired collection of outfits for your casual and formal wear for you and your kids. As this store is a recognized provider of consistent clothing you can purchase from the store now from Everlane store.
